About the Artist

Hello, welcome to my website.  I’m Cherie, a soft pastel artist living in central Florida.  I specialize in wildlife and pet portraits.

In 2019 I stumbled across a drawing tutorial on YouTube.  Intrigued, I grabbed a #2 pencil and a piece of copier paper.  My drawing was terrible but the feeling I had as my pencil moved across the paper was amazing.  I was hooked.

When I discovered soft pastels I knew I’d found the medium for me.  My paintings can be as detailed or expressive as I want.  Best of all, soft pastels are very versatile and tactile.  I’m able to use my finger tips to blend and move the pastel around.  It’s like being a kid with finger paints again.  It’s a joy to be able to combine my love of painting with my passion for animals.
